To start this off, Kotaku isn't the most reliable source, but it's worth discussing anyway.
The "source" of Kotaku says, that the new Xbox will have a technology, that prevents you from using already "activated" games on your console. This technology isn't really something new though, because we have been using Multiplayer passes for the last months already. I'd hate it though, if we would be forced to have those passes for the whole game, including singleplayer.
On the other hand: Steam has done this for a long time already. You buy your game and can activate it once on your Steam account. It is different though for consoles. People lend their games to their friends, which would be impossible then.
It's all still a rumor and people would still buy the console sadly, if this happens. I certainly wouldn't.
That's a horrible idea for consoles. :/
ReplyDeletei guess this would be ok for downloadable content a la steam, but as long as they sell physical copies of games this shouldn't be the standard.
ReplyDeleteThat wouldn`t be good.
ReplyDeleteWell that's just retarded..
ReplyDeleteI've heard of this before too. I would hate it.. but it looks like its gonna happen.
ReplyDeleteSimple soulution, never connect your Xbox to the interwebs. no connection means no verification. tada! ploblem solved!
ReplyDeletePart of the reason I can buy new games is I sell the old ones. They're tricking themselves if they think this will sell enough games to make it worth the cost.
ReplyDeleteThat's dumb if you buy it you should be able to sell it
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter to me, PC gamer over here!
ReplyDeleteWhat a dumb policy. Can't be true
ReplyDeletei don't doubt they would do something like this to kill the used game buying market and wouldnt it mess up even renting games then?
ReplyDeleteWell if this is true then I will just jtag my shit and give a big fuck you to microsoft. What a bunch of bull.
ReplyDeleteGames are too expensive, used games are fine for me, its good idea only if game prices will be not so high...
ReplyDeleteDon't like this . . . Bad idea :(((( + following for more updates :)
ReplyDeleteyeah that is a bad idea.
ReplyDeleteUnfair!
